The Luxembourg Government will provide 8 million EUR (11 million USD) to help the central province of Thua Thien-Hue carry out a project on climate change adaptation from the end of 2013 through 2017.
The project, worth a total of 10 million EUR (13.7 million USD), helps improve State and community management capacity, and strengthen systems and resources serving the locality’s socio-economic development and poverty reduction, said Hoang Ngoc Khanh, Chief of the provincial People’s Committee Office. The project will be implemented in communes lying along the coast and in and around lagoons in Quang Dien, Phu Vang and Phu Loc districts in order to reduce the poverty rate in the poorest areas and ease impacts of climate change in the most venerable areas. Since 1998, Luxembourg has granted a remarkable sum of non-refundable aid to the central province’s poverty reduction, health care, education and socio-economic development programmes.
There included a project providing equipment to the Hue Central Hospital and Hue Medical University worth 1 million EUR, a 4.7 million EUR project on rural development in Quang Dien district and the one on the establishment of a tourism school worth nearly 32 billion VND.-VNA
