Police in northern Lang Son Province have arrested two Chinese nationals for killing a 9-year-old Vietnamese child in a hamlet in the province on Wednesday.

On Thursday, chief of police of Van Lang District Vu Hong Quang confirmed that local police seized two Chinese men who killed the child in Na Ao hamlet, Trang Dinh District, at noon on February 26.

That day, after receiving a report on the case, local police launched an investigation in coordination with their counterparts in neighboring districts, which led to the arrest of the two Chinese men a day later in Hat Loc hamlet in Van Lang, Quang said.

The names and other personal details of the murderers are being indentified.

According to initial investigations, the Chinese men illegally entered Vietnam and committed the crime, police said.

They told investigators that they “left China for Vietnam,” and when they got hungry they begged for food at a house in Na Ao.

As the house’s owner refused to feed them, they killed the owner’s child, they said.

However, according to some sources, the murder was the result of a conflict in business relations between the killers and the parents of the child, investigators said.

Sources say the two men had visited the house many times before the day of murder but they had never met the father of the child.

Police are continuing to question the Chinese men to determine the motive for the murder.
