With a total investment of over 3 billion USD, the plant is designed to churn out 6.5 million tonnes of crude oil each year, meeting over 30 percent of the nation’s demand.

Since it began operating in 2009, the plant has sold 28.7 million tonnes of products, raking in nearly 520 trillion VND (24.4 billion USD) in revenue, and contributing 81 trillion VND (3.8 billion USD) to the State budget.

In 2013, it produced 6.6 million tonnes, 17 percent higher than its set target, and gained over 154 trillion VND (7.3 billion USD) in revenue and 2.9 trillion VND (138 million USD) in profit. It also contributed 28.4 trillion VND (1.3 billion USD) to the State budget.

This year, the BSR strives to earn 113.6 trillion VND (5.3 billion USD) from selling 5.18 million tonnes of products of all kinds, contributing over 13.7 trillion VND (644 million USD) to the State budget.

Expanding and upgrading the plant in the coming time is a key task of the whole locality, Provincial Party Committee Secretary Vo Van Thuong said, adding that local authorities are striving to turn Dung Quat into a modern petrochemical centre in the country.-VNA
