In photos: Gen. Giap, “The General of the People”
Vast crowds of people including the elderly and children from across the country flocked to streets on Sunday to bid their last farewell and respects to the revered war hero Vo Nguyen Giap, who died at age 103 on October 4.
Almost all Vietnamese call him “The General of the People” or “The Great Man” for leading the Vietnamese to victories against the French colonial regime and the American empire.
The General was buried in Vung Chua, Yen Island on October 13 at the end of his two-day state funeral amidst wide-spread national mourning.
